Stories of Hope

“

Before doing intensive work at CTT I believed that I was responsible for being sexually abused as a child. I blamed myself and was ashamed about what happened. I felt that I would always have to keep it a dark secret. During the intensive outpatient treatment I was able to look at and organize the memories in a way that exposed the secrets and took away the shame. Previosly I had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and took strong medications for a long time. I learned that while I may have a mood disorder, posttraumatic stress (PTSD) was responsible for a lot of my symptoms. When the PTSD improved, I became calmer and have needed much less medicine. One of the greatest benefits of CTT is that you have access to all the doctors. They have complimentary skills, and they all understand how trauma affects all areas of your life. I am very glad I was referred to CTT."

Our 12-yo son was diagnosed with a number of different problems, including Asperger's Syndrome. He had seen many practitioners and tried ten medications, but nothing worked very well or for very long. We were at our wit's end when we found Drs. Dalton, Norton and Siegler at Center for Trauma Therapy. After minimal medication, intensive outpatient therapy to resolve his early childhood medical trauma, and family therapy, we have a new child. He is happier and healthier than we ever thought was possible. We are deeply grateful for the kind and sensitive care that our son and family received at CTT.“

“

I am a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. My goal is to become a helicoptor pilot with the Coast Guard. I met Dr. Dalton and Dr. Norton when I was at the lowest point in my life. My parents divorced when I was two, and my dad was always working in another city or country. When I was in elementary school he worked in Iraq and I was terrified because when he called me I could hear gun shots in the background. His friend and business partner was killed in "the hot zone," and I always afraid that he would be killed too. My mother was over protective and unable to let me live life on life's terms.I became so depressed and confused that when someone taught me how to use self harm to release internal pressure, I was so desperate that I tried it. I still have scars, and the scars tell an entire story. I "self medicated" in other ways, too, with alcohol and marijuana. I was constantly looking for ways to feel calm and get all the negative thoughts out of my head. Dr. Dalton was the first person who really helped me. She gave me medications that helped with the agitation, depression and problems with concentration.

She encouraged and guided me, and was never judgmental. Then I met Dr. Norton, and she and Dr. Dalton immediately worked together to help me in every way possible. I did intensive outpatient work with Dr. Norton, which alleviated most of my symptoms, especially the grief I had about the death of my grandfather that I couldn't seem to get over. The doctors at CTT are highly principled and very caring. I know they have my best interest at heart. If you have problems similar to mine and you're not getting better, try CTT. It really works. You won't regret it..“

Dear Dr. Norton:I was in one of your graduate classes at UT in 2008-2009.I wanted to drop you a note and say thank you so much for all you put into our classes. I was at a loss yesterday with a client I work with and remembered some tools you had provided us with. I ended up pulling up the notes from your class and they are so full of helpful information.Your teaching definitely made me a more competent social worker and I am constantly using what I learned in your classes. So grateful for your time and investment.Thank you again!“

I suffered for 25 years from the effects of abuse by a priest. Finally I was referred to CTT. The Drs. and staff were professional, kind, and highly skilled. I worked through my nightmare in a week of intensive outpatient trauma therapy. I also received a small amount of medication and weekly therapy to follow up on my recovery. Going to CTT was one of the best decisions I ever made. I highly recommend them.“
